Global patterns of carnivore spatial ecology research in agroecosystems

چکیده
The growing needs for agricultural expansion and intensification will likely continue to reduce fragment the terrestrial habitats fundamental mammalian carnivores. Recent research identified benefits of agroecosystems carnivores recognizing their multifunctionality, mostly common species. However, variability carnivore ecology investigated in agroecosystems, biases agriculture types species targeted, methodological approaches may affect available knowledge reconcile conservation production. To fill this gap, we conducted a systematic literature review identify which aspects how is spatial being within agroecosystems. Of 110 reviewed studies, most focused on crops (55%) grasslands (47%) half referred monocultures. We found that 61% studies were Europe North America. Eighty-four studied, 73% classified as Least Concern, with 67% targeting single 30% only seven Almost all included some form habitat use analysis species’ home-range its attributes (e.g. size, resource selection), studied. Most suggested functions food provisioning (69%) but few used direct availability measures. Our results highlight tend be descriptive geographically biased towards northern hemisphere non-forested types. suggest future agroecosystem should hypotheses-driven, greater focus mechanisms processes through might particular areas high priority conservation.

Global patterns of fragmentation and connectivity of mammalian carnivore habitat.
Although mammalian carnivores are vulnerable to habitat fragmentation and require landscape connectivity, their global patterns of fragmentation and connectivity have not been examined. We use recently developed high-resolution habitat suitability models to conduct comparative analyses and to identify global hotspots of fragmentation and connectivity for the world's terrestrial carnivores. Spec...
متن کاملSpatial Patterns of Poverty in Iran
Poverty can have spatial dimensions. While general figures might show the spatial pattern of poverty, there is a need for more detailed examination of this pattern. Relying on simple figures of spatial patterns and ranking regions based on them might be misleading. This paper tries to apply spatial analysis methodsm, namely spatial autoregressive models to find out the impacts of space on the h...
متن کاملCarnivore habitat ecology: integrating theory and application
Few terms in wildlife ecology and conservation biology enjoy jargon status more than the word " habitat. " The ubiquity of the word in popular, scientific, and administrative literature suggests a universal definition, yet the diversity of contexts in which it is used clearly indicates little consensus. This conceptual imprecision has strong, but generally unacknowledged, implications for under...
